Fun with Monsters

Hello All!

So despite it having been awhile since I last posted, I have, in fact, kept up my interest in Monster High dolls. Customizing them has proved to be quite fun, though I'll still practicing. I have managed to sell one of my two finished dolls even! The second I'm thinking of re-doing again with the same theme, but a little more finesse. I'm getting a hang of this, slowly but surely. So, here's what I've been up to:

CaM Kitty I'm painting to sell on etsy

A Lagoona I'm painting for Jamie as a belated xmas present

An Abby I'm practicing on and will be painting. Cut out her eyes so I can put in acrylic eyes in.

The Cleo and Frankie that I painted. I sold the Frankie on Ebay, but the Cleo is still for sale if anyone is interested.

The Cleo above is the one I plan on re-doing. I quite like her face shape, and I'll be doing the same color theme and all the beauty marks, but probably make her eyebrows a tad smaller and do a better job on her eyes. They're kind of flaking because of a mistake I made with the gloss.

Some dolls I've picked up for myself are a Rochelle Goyle, Venus McFlytrap, and a Howleen Wolf. I've also got a Clawdeen, Spectra, and Draculaura that I plan on repainting and then selling. It's been quite a lot of fun!

On the art front, I'm trying to finish up a character app for Minispris on DA. I tried joining when they first opened, but didn't make it in. They seem to have done a reset on the whole group, though, so I guess the original didn't work out or it's under new management or something. Regardless, hopefully I'll make it in because I could do with some chibi fun! Otherwise, most of my art time is eaten up by Souls of Chaos still, lol. Maybe I'll get to my own group one of these days.

One Year

Wow, ok so I totally forgot I had this blog...for an entire year >__>

So what have I been up to?

-still with my wonderful boyfriend! Our one year anniversary is tomorrow! (Though thanks to him being military, he is out of the country for at least another month ;__; )
-got a new place with Jamie! This one is much larger and nicer :D we at very happy lol
-my place of work got merged with the other arts and crafts center, so we lost a lot of people, and I'm now an embroiderer instead of an engraver
-little sister left to go to college! I feel old @__@;
-pretty much lost interest in BJDs all together. I have picked up some Monster High dolls, though, and I am experimenting with repainting. That's been fun.

Wow, I really need to post here more often...I keep forgetting I have this blog, lol. Doesn't help that I don't have anything particularly interesting to write about I suppose. I'll have to think of something I guess.

Well, since it's been months since I last wrote, here's the quick and dirty to what I've been up to!
-sold my old car!
-got my new car! (new being a relative term, lol. Still, it is 4 years newer than my last!)
-finalized my divorce (thank god)
-moved out of my parents and into a new apartment with Jamie!
-still in the process of properly furnishing said apartment...(still looking a little bare lol)
-still haven't gotten my bloody PFD thanks to some mix ups (GIVE ME MY FREE MONEY DAMN YOU)
-did a marksmanship course with Dad and Jamie in October (can now shoot like a boss XD )
-putting up with a bunch of drama llamas at work
-holding down the engraving shop all on my lonesome this month
-met the most wonderful guy ever
-nabbed most wonderful guy ever as my boyfriend ( <3 )
-have gone on 6 dates in 10 days with said boyfriend (we like to cook dinner together =D )
-trying and failing horribly at NaNoWriMo this year (boyfriends are extremely distracting to the writing process)
-have been reading a very interesting book called 'The Writers Journey'. It's really been helping me better plot out stories and characters. I would highly recommend it to anyone who writes!


Well that's just about everything, I think. I tend to be pretty forgetful >__> Beyond that, just been doing some random bits of art here and there. Still no luck on getting a comic of any sorts going, but I have been writing the story for it for NaNo, so maybe that will at least help a bit?

Anyways, joined this fun group on Deviantart called Hetherev. My friend Un-do and I have been having some fun times drawing our characters doing silly things together (think fingernail painting, spider goo removal, and bath time lol). I need to do my character's actual arrival picture though. There's a lot of art I ought to be doing, really >___>
Why am I so LAZY when it comes to art??? I have lots of great ideas but I can rarely get myself to do any of them @_@

That is my curse in life, I suppose....

Oh well, procrastination aside, my life has taken a definite turn for the better lately, so I'm quite pleased over all =)

And I thiiiiiink that's it....I'll come back and edit to cross things off as I get them done I guess, haha. Or I'll just update again =3 Busy busy, holy crap! The internet eats up way too much of my life, haha XD

On a random note, went and saw the new HP movie opening night! Really glad I decided to do the midnight showing. I was exhausted the day after, but what with it being the FINAL Harry Potter movie and all, it was worth it. There were a lot of things I didn't like about the Deathly Hallows book (namely, the deathly hallows themselves, lol), but I still REALLY enjoyed this movie. I won't go into a crazy long rant about it, but it was great, and a worthy wrap up to a series that had such a huge impact not only on the world of literature, but on the world of film as well. Snape's death scene and the part where you go into his memories were OMG SAD....holy shit T_____T *cried!* totally the best part. Also, Neville beheading Nagini for the win XD <3<3<3 That boy is so much win!

I suck at coming up with journal titles, so I'll probably just do dates, haha.

Haven't posted here in ages >_o I will try to update more in the future! Not that very many people actually care or read this tripe >__>

First post I mentioned some difficult stuff going on in my life, and so I might as well get it out there. I'm currently getting a divorce, and while I was having a hard time when I started this blog, I'm having a much easier time of it now. I'm so much happier without him it's just absurd. Really I just need a few other things to straighten themselves out in my life and I'm golden.

Still living with my parents since I left the ex, but hopefully a friend and I will be getting a place together before the end of this summer. I'm getting a new car as well, having to drop $2800 to get it up here to Alaska, though, hence the waiting on getting a place >_o One step at a time I suppose. I have a good job with benefits, so it shouldn't take me too long to save up enough to manage a deposit and all that nonsense.

Been working on some art lately. I did a picture for this rp group, worked crazy hours on it to get it done in just a couple of days before the deadline, only to find out that the group is far less structured and plot driven than I thought it was going to be. Definitely a disappointment. Poor Dominique discovered the same thing >P Which is a bummer because her picture/character turned out so awesome @3@ Mad jealous of her skills over here, haha. Now I'm working on a picture that I started waaaay back in October 2010 >___>;;; It's a bit of Harry Potter fanart I did for a writer that did this AMAZING fanfic. Problem was I loved the sketch, but got it in to ink and color it and it just...drove me freaking insane. Still kinda bothering me, but not so bad. Just ruing, once again, how crappy I am at coloring. *sighs* I really just have zero talent for it. Depresses me sometimes. Pisses me off, really, if I think about it too hard, because I know that I'm a pretty good hand at drawing people, decent sense of proportions and all that, but when it comes to coloring...I'm just completely lost, no matter how many damn tutorials I look at. Ugh.

Anyways, moving on, before this turns into a very bitter pity party...

15. One odd/interesting fact about you: Umm...I can't do a proper knife hand for Tae Kwon Do? There's something wrong with my fingers so that whenever I fold my thumb in that way, it drags down my pointer and middle finger as well, like their attached or something o_O;
16. You can have three wishes (for yourself, so forget all the 'world peace etc') - what are they?: Oooh...hmmm, I guess for novelty's sake I'd want super powers or something. Nothing super-man like, more like...like Sesshomaru from Inuyasha 8D (/dork) all the super jumping and strength (and fantastic hair...), and his awesome attacks. That would be neat. A more realistic wish would be for my dad's neck and back to be fixed so he can do all the things he wants to do but hasn't been able to since his accident. and thiiiiiird....hm, maybe some non-taxable money that I could live off of? Just a few mil or something XD
Which country is your spiritual home?: Definitely the good ol' USA. I lived in Scotland for a year and I missed it dearly. Living in another country really reminds you of all the little reasons this country is so awesome.
What is your big weakness?: I guess sometimes I'm too willing to sacrifice my own happiness for the sake of avoiding conflict with others.
What was your best/favorite subject at school?
Describe your accent: Kind of lacking in one actually. I've lived in Alaska for over 10 years and there's no real discernable accent here. Kind of generic 'Northern'? I guess?
What do you wear to sleep?: Comfy pj pants and big t-shirts! 8D
Trousers or skirts?: Both! Though I tend to wear pants a lot more than skirts. Living in Alaska, it's a bit chilly for skirts 9 months out of the year XD
Cigarettes or alcohol?: Neither. However, if I was forced to choose, alcohol I guess? At least booze doesn't give you cancer.

Shiny new journal

So, my friend Domi decided to open up a blogspot page and I thought it turned out quite nice, so I decided to as well. Seems like a neat set up.

I'll be posting art WIPs and potentially a webcomic up here, as well as just general posts about life.

I'm currently going through something very very difficult irl, so forgive me is posting is slow. This is one thing I'd rather not post about.

I have a lot to be thankful for. I have my loving family, my wonderful friends, and a good job, as well as a roof over my head. I've just got to power through this, and I know I'll come out happier on the other end if I can just keep going.
I saw Sucker Punch today with my dad since we both had the day off. It was really good o_O I mean, I had heard good things about it from sources I generally trust, so I was expecting it to be good, I just wasn't expecting it to be THAT good. I definitely recommend it! It's not just some fan-servicey action movie, it was very moving and thought provoking. Very pro-woman power too, which was nice, haha. But yes, go check it out! Even if all you are looking for is a gratuitous action movie, I would suggest it. Action scenes were awesome O3O
